Learning

At our school, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use explicit teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.

Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

At Caniaba Public School, SRE is delivered on Fridays.

On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the school office in writing. Combined Chrisitan SRE classes are offered at Caniaba Public School, and the volunteer teachers are authorised by the:

  • Australian Christian Churches in NSW
  • Baptist Union of NSW
  • Christian Community Churches of Australia
  • C3 Church Australia (NSW)
  • Dioceses of the Anglican Church of Australia in the Province of NSW
  • Dioceses of the Roman Catholic Church in NSW
  • International Council of Churches
  • New Heights Chrisitan Fellowship
  • Presbyterian Church of Australia in the State of NSW
  • The Salvation Army
  • Seventh-day Adventist Church, NSW Conferences
  • Uniting Church in Australia NSW/ACT Synod

With SRE teachers from local churches students ask questions, explore the Bible and discover the Good News of Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Christian in our world today. Lessons are age appropriate, fun and inclusive.

High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with being challenged and extending them to help them grow and thrive.
